Mozambique, Here I come

Hello family and friends
I hope this post finds you doing well and enjoying the holiday season. More than likely this will be my last update for quite awhile because I leave tomorrow for Mozambique for 3 months and it is not likely that we will have frequent access to internet because it is a third world country. It will be quite the travelling experience to get to our final destination in Mozambique. First, we start off early tomorrow by taking a 4 hour bus ride to Vienna and then from there we fly to Cairo, Egypt and then from there we take a red eye flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. We will stay in Johannesburg for the night on Wednesday at a YWAM base and then leave early Thursday morning to take a 9 hour bus ride to Maputo, Mozambique. Once we arrive in Maputo, the capital, we will take a 30 minute bus ride to the small village of Zimpeto where we will work with Iris Ministries for 3 weeks.

While we are working at Iris ministries we will be doing various types of ministries. We have the opportunity to visit a garbage dump where hundreds live, and do some practical ministry there. We will also be working with orphan children whose parents have died from AIDS or war, from ages 0-9. I am very excited about the opportunity to work with the orphans and to overflow them with love and hopefully some smiles and giggles! We also have the opportunity to go to hospitals almost every day of the week, to pray with people and help them in any way that we can. Lastly, we have the possibility to visit surrounding villages and plant churches, show the Jesus Video, and start revival. It is going to be nothing short of amazing! Oh and I must add that Iris Ministries has electricity and running water so that is a very nice Christmas present!

After our 3 weeks are up at Iris Ministries, we don’t have anything planned because our previous plans fell through. Although this seems a bit scary, we all feel very confident that God is going to lead us to the places that he wants us to go. I know this “obstacle” will make our team continue to depend upon God and increase our faith in him and our ability to hear his voice.

- An amazing Thanksgiving. We had a delightful time together as a “family” and enjoyed many of the traditional dishes as well as lots of meaningful conversations.
- His goodness and the blessings he pours out in such special and unique ways
- The ministry opportunities that lie ahead for my team and I in Mozambique

Please pray for:
- Safety as we travel. Pray that all our belongings will be safe and that we won’t have any troubles with our flights
- Unity amongst my team members and I. Pray that we will be understanding and patient with each other especially when we face stressful moments.
- Guidance as we seek what work the Father wants to do through us and in us during the time we are in Mozambique.
